Happy New Year

If you're like me, you struggle with your new year's resolutions.  I always judge my worth by accomplishments.  However, at this period of life, I find myself preferring to sit back and relish past accomplishments while supporting my family in all their endeavors.  Now, facing a new year, I wonder if that's enough.  So, I struggle.  How to balance work, family, friends, personal time.  It's the age old question, really.

Ben Franklin counsels us in "The Way to Wealth" to never be idle.  So, when I sit back to think, trying to make sense of myself, I feel that I'm disobeying a Founding Father.  Yet, time for reflection helps us ultimately move forward.  In this world where technology moves faster than the speed of sound, we find less time for thought.  So, I propose that we all carve a few minutes for reflection on what we've done, what we still want to do and what we're doing to determine if we travel the right path.  If we find a rudder change necessary, then set a new course for the new year.    If you're currently happy, stay the course.  If you see light at the end of the tunnel, stay the course.

Have a happy and fulfilling new year!
